Sue MacLaine

Sue MacLaine, NRCPD registered interpreter (RSLI) taking direct bookings in Sussex, Brighton & Hove, London and the South East of England

I completed my interpreter training at the Centre for Deaf Studies at Bristol University in 1995 and have been a freelance sign language interpreter ever since.
I work within a variety of domains including criminal justice, mental health,  therapy and counselling, health and social care.

In my own right I am an Arts Council funded theatre-maker and playwright and so a specialism is Arts interpreting.  I regularly provide interpretation for The Brighton Festival, The Unicorn Theatre, London, The Theatre Royal, Brighton, The Marlowe,Canterbury to name but a few.  In conjunction with Deaf creative practitioner Nadia Nadarajah, I offer consultancy and advice for improving Deaf people's access and inclusion to the performing arts.

In 2011 I completed, with distinction, an MA in Life History and Life Writing at the University of Sussex.  These skills have been applied to my interpretation work within Higher Education settings and European Union funded projects.
